In-Home Training Program

In-home dog training allows you and your entire family to share in your dog's learning experience, including obedience training and problem-solving. Whether your dog needs Basic On-Leash Training or is ready for Advanced Off-Leash Training, you and your dog will enjoy one-on-one private sessions with a qualified personal trainer at your home.   

 

You and your dog train together. You’ll solve common problems that occur in your home, on the street or in the park. You must be able to schedule regular appointments with your trainer and you need to commit to working with your dog for a minimum of twenty minutes a day, or perhaps a little more, depending on your dog's temperament and rate of learning.

 

Training should begin when your puppy is as young as seven weeks old to avoid "the crazies" and all that expensive destruction. However, you can still train dogs as old as ten years or more.

Basic training can change your life from chaotic to wonderful when it comes to living with your dog. A professionally trained dog listens all the time, every time, in spite of distractions, and responds to you without fail.

Basic commands are necessary functions for your dog's safety and the wellbeing of people and other animals. Commands are important at all times for a variety of reasons. If your dog is well trained, you have the control and that is important if you are a responsible dog owner. A well-trained dog is also able to communicate and function in your home and around others. Training is about function, control and prevention. 

 

Consider the following: A well-trained dog always responds to a command -- not just some of the time or part of the time. Why is this important? 

 

  • A dog cannot SIT and jump on a person at the same time. 

  • A dog cannot SIT and STAY and run out the door into traffic at the same time. 

  • A dog that obeys the HEEL command will not pull you down the street.

  • A dog that responds to DOWN and STAY can enjoy being in the room with you without interfering with your mealtime or guests.

  • A dog that COMES WHEN CALLED is not going to have to be chased. 

  • A well-trained dog is not a destructive dog. Destruction is expensive!

Advanced Off-Leash Training

Why should your dog receive advanced off-leash training?

 

Communicating with your dog without a leash is rewarding, to say the least. Off-leash training gives you the skills and control to handle your dog without a leash, even when you open the door or the gate and your dog is present. This advanced training can prevent your dog from bolting into traffic and getting injured or worse. 

 

The number one reason dogs die is cancer. The number two reason is cars. And it most frequently happens near the dog’s home. Even with distractions in crowded public places, like beaches and parks, off-leash training provides the ultimate control. Off-leash training is a must if the safety of your dog, and others, is important to you.
